Our programs are designed with a focus on youth development; providing players an opportunity to interact with their peers and adults in a positive and encouraging environment. Andover Youth Lacrosse offers to Andover residents, in the 1st through 8th grades, the opportunity to learn and grow within lacrosse regardless of skill level or ability. It is our goal to encourage the participation of new players regardless of grade, while continuing to provide a quality lacrosse opportunity for the most experienced player.

1st & 2nd Grade Boys Lacrosse

Andover Lacrosse begins with an in-town developmental program for boys in the 1st and 2nd grades. This program is an introduction to lacrosse featuring one practice a week and a 6 v 6 format game per week. Practices will be held in “clinic style” focused on the fundamentals of throwing, catching, shooting, ground balls, body positioning, and general lacrosse positioning. This curriculum has been designed to maximize the skill development of kids at each respective level in a progressive fashion. Game days will be in a jamboree style, where games will be in a 6 v 6 style with 2 players at each position: attack, midfield, and defense. No goalies.

Again, we are simply focused on the fundamentals of skill development. 8th graders participating in Andover Youth Lacrosse and AHS Varsity Lacrosse players will assist the coaching staff in teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and love for the game.

3rd & 4th Grade Boys Lacrosse

Our 3rd and 4th grade teams will learn and compete in an 8 v 8, cross field format. This program is a three-day-per-week commitment, with two practices during the week and a game with their team over the weekend. Multiple balanced teams will be formed in this grade group. This division, like all of the divisions in our program, is organized by school grade. Sign-ups are done on a first-come-first-served basis. Rosters for this age group are limited to 15 players to ensure that each player gets adequate instruction and playing time. There are no cuts and everyone will play, however it is expected that players make a commitment to both practices and games.

5th & 6th Grade Boys Lacrosse

This program is a three-day-per-week commitment. However, if your player try’s out for and makes the Select team, it will be a 4 day-per-week commitment. Age groups will practice together twice during the school week and play travel games as individual teams on weekends. The Select team will practice one night a week after one of the other practices, and play on a separate day from the regular travel team. This division, like all of the divisions in our program, is organized by school grade. Sign-ups are done on a first-come-first-served basis. Rosters for this age group are limited to 20 players to ensure that each player gets adequate instruction and playing time. Multiple teams with balanced talent will be formed in this grade group with no cuts and everyone will play. The Select team will play to be competitive and equal playing time should not be expected. It is expected that players make a commitment to both practices and games.
